College receives $100,000 gift from Allmond and Company

President Keith T. Miller joined Dr. Emmanuel Omojokun (Interim Dean) on Wednesday in acknowledging Mr. Marvin Allmond for his company’s generous investment in the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business.  Managing member of Allmond & Company LLC with offices located in Landover, Maryland, Mr. Allmond recently donated $100,000 to the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business to support students.  In addition, Allmond & Company has hired multiple Accounting graduates from VSU and annually sponsors twenty students to attend the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) Eastern Regional Conference.

On Wednesday, the College of Business hosted Marvin for “Allmond & Company Day at VSU”.  A bronze plaque conveying the University’s gratitude was installed in Singleton at a dedication ceremony presided over by President Keith T. Miller.

Mr. Allmond has worked in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for the past forty years. He obtained a B.S. Degree in Accounting from Virginia State University in 1972.  He received a Masters Degree in Management from Central Michigan University and studied Business Management at Old Dominion University. He spent thirteen years in the Federal Government as an auditor, supervisory auditor, and program manager.  He was an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) for eighteen years.  While at UDC, he served as the faculty advisor to the Accounting Club and was responsible for organizing a student chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA).  He has been practicing as a CPA for the past 35 years and is currently managing and directing a certified public accounting firm, Allmond & Company, LLC, with a staff of thirty five full time employees.  His firm, Allmond & Company, LLC, is a corporate sponsor for the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) and the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) and has won multiple awards including the 1994 National Association of Black Accountants – Metro DC Chapter’s Outstanding Member of the Year and 2005 National Association of Black Accountants – Metro DC Chapter’s Outstanding Member of the Year.

He has been married to Linda Allmond for 40 years. He has two sons, Tyrone and Jason, who are currently in his current accounting practice.
