Spring 2016 Student Accomplishments

The Reginald F. Lewis College of Business at Virginia State University celebrated the following spring 2016 student accomplishments.

(1) Amber Raymond (Management major) has earned a summer internship at Merrill Lynch in her hometown of Baltimore.

(2) Jasmine Baskett (Marketing major) and Marquai Randolph (MISY major) participated in an Office of Senator Mark Warner networking event with over one hundred professionals.

(3) Fidelis Zemkwe (MISY major) participated in a Ready Set Hire event with over forty businesses and interviewed high school Cisco students at the Chesterfield County Public Schools Career and Technical Center.

(4) Sam Kelly (Management major), Nahja Marinnie (Management/HR major), and Marvel Taylor (Management major) participated in a FBLA event at Matoaca High School and judged high school students’ presentations.

(5) Taylor Choyce (Management major), Dei’Jon Collier (Marekting major), and Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major) were Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Dominion, State Farm, Rush Paul Consulting, Office of Senator Mark Warner, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Prospect Mortgage, firstStreet, and Phoenix Nap Datacenter.

(6) Justine Santana (Management major) interviewed high school students at J.R. Tucker High School.

(7) Monet Graves (Marketing major) participated in a business development meeting with Brittney Quarles (Sales Manager for Radio One).

(8) Justine Santana (Management major) participated in a Women’s Business Council networking event with over thirty businesses.

(9) Chris Dow (MISY major) visited with Christine Roberts (Recruiter for CORE Technology) in Richmond to discuss the Information Technology profession.

(10) Justine Santana (Management major) participated in a Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce committee meeting to discuss education policy with leading businesses.

(11) Over sixty students participated in WaWa Day to include interfacing with Tineka Crump (Recruiter).

(12) Jasmine Green (Management major) participated in Project Shadow with the City of Petersburg and performed so well that she earned an internship with the City.

(13) Vanessa Brown (Marketing minor) participated in Project Shadow with the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and performed so well that she earned an internship with the Chamber.

(14) Mykala Daniel (Marketing major) earned a Marketing Strategy internship at Native Collab.

(15) Aicha Camara (Management major) participated in Project Shadow with Suhail Arora (Regional Director for Shamin Hotels).

(16) Chanel Brown (Marketing major), Vanessa Brown (Marketing minor), Kevin Carter (Accounting major), Aaron Fuller (Management major), L’Nique Mone Freeman (Management major), and Sam Kelly (Management major) participated in the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce annual gala with over 100 businesses.

(17) Six students participated in the American Marketing Association (AMA) VSU Chapter workshop facilitated by Micah Bam-Bamm White (Comedian).

(18) Over ninety students participated in Northwestern Mutual Day to include interfacing with Allison Hudson (Recruiter) to discuss internships.

(19) Zymir Batts (Accounting major), Taylor Choyce (Management major), Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), Thea Harvell (Marketing major), Messiyah Kerr (Management major), Tim Sloan (Management major), and Stephon Singh (Accounting major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Napier Realtors, Virginia Department of Health, Colonial Heights Chamber of Commerce, SOUL, and Apartment Connections.

(20) Micah Bullard (Accounting major), Imani Groce (Accounting major), and Kara Rogers (Management major) participated in a workshop in the VSU Center for Entrepreneurship facilitated by Bina Williams (Owner of Damsel in Defense).

(21) Raven McGriff has accepted an offer from Allmond & Company in Maryland to be a staff accountant-in-training. Raven was also offered by KPMG but decided on Allmond. Additionally, Raven has been selected for an internship in internal audit at VSU.

(22) Thirty-five students participated in a professional conference at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business and participated in workshops and interfaced with students from other universities.

(23) Marquai Randolph (MISY major) participated in an Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) networking event and workshop with forty businesses.

(24) Over seventy students participated in Farm Credit of the Virginias Day to include interfacing with Kay Manchester (HR Director) and Bianca Forbes (Agri-Business major and 13 grad).

(25) Chanel Brown (Marketing minor), Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), and Messiyah Kerr (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by SunTrust, Cycul, Radio One, New York Life, Fort Lee Credit Union, VFX, and Cobb Technologies.

(26) Kera Bridges (MISY major and 15 grad) has earned a new position as a Business Analyst at CGI in Northern Virginia where she will be working on an ERP platform. Kera had previously been working for Xerox at Fannie Mae.

(27) Denaya Simmons (Accounting major and 14 grad) has earned a position as a Property Administrator for Servers for the Underserved in New York.

(28) Terence Womble (Marketing major and 13 grad) has earned a position as a Community Engagement Coordinator for AmeriCorps in Newark, NJ.

(29) Perlecya Dozier (Marketing major and 14 grad) has earned a position as an Advising Communications Specialist for Regent University in Virginia Beach.

(30) Monet Graves (Marketing major) earned a $5,000 Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and was selected to study abroad this summer in Beijing for nine weeks.

(31) Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major) participated in a Dominion dinner and Excellence in Leadership program at the Marriott in Richmond with hundreds of business leaders to include with President Abdullah.

(32) Chanel Brown (Marketing major) participated in the Matoaca High School College Fair and recruited students to attend the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business; she interfaced with dozens of students.

(33) Micah Bullard (Accounting major) and Marquai Randolph (MISY major) participated in a Petersburg Chamber of Commerce workshop with Dr. Linda Shifflette (Interim Superintendent of Petersburg Public Schools) along with thirty companies.

(34) Philandra Jordan (MISY major) was selected to be mentored by Diamond Jenrette (MISY major and 2011 grad). Diamond is an IT Solutions Architect for ARDX in Norfolk. This constitutes a terrific example of an alum giving back.

(35) Nine students participated in an entrepreneurship workshop in the College’s Center for Entrepreneurship. The topic regarded Building a Sustainable Business and was facilitated by Felipe Wright (Owner of EWaste TechSystems).

(36) Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), Messiyah Kerr (Management major), Eddie Oliver (Management major), and Cynthia Simmons (Accounting major) were Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Dominion, Shamin Hotels, Metamorphosis Consulting, Dunlap & Partners Engineering, VHI Transport, and New York Life.

(37) Over thirty students in Legal, Ethical, and Digital participated in a workshop regarding business law facilitated by Brian Telfair (City Attorney for Petersburg).

(38) Over thirty students participated in Deloitte workshop(s) facilitated by David Ghartey (MISY major and Dec 15 grad). David is a SAP Commercial Consultant at Deloitte. A big thanks to VSU Career Services for making happen!

(39) Laura Jones (Accounting major and 14 grad) has earned a job as an Accountant/Financial Specialist for the Crater Regional Workforce Development Board. Prior to the new job, Laura had been working with our friend Dease Moore at 4Core Technology.

(40) Over one hundred students participated in the VSU Career Services Career Expo and interfaced with over forty employers.

(41) Thirty-eight students participated in a film shoot for a Coming Soon to TV commercial promoting Virginia State University.

(42) Marshawn Shelton (Management major) participated in a College Affordability roundtable hosted by Senator(s) Mark Warner and Tim Kaine in D.C.

(43) Aiyana Glover (Management major) and Imani Groce (Accounting major) participated in a Workforce Investment Board meeting with forty business and government leaders.

(44) Jarielis Garcia (Marketing major) and her husband Charlie gave birth to a beautiful little girl, i.e. Charlize.

(45) Fifteen students participated in entrepreneurship workshops regarding What It’s Like to Be A Serial Entrepreneur with regional businesses in the College’s Center for Entrepreneurship.

(46) Zymir Batts (Accounting major), Kevin Carter (Accounting major), Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), Robert Harper (Management major), Messiyah Kerr (Management major), and Stephon Singh (Accounting major) were Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Dominion, State Farm, Make A Wish Foundation, Myers & Stauffer, and Capital One.

(47) Marshawn Shelton (Management major) has earned a Manager-in-Training job offer from Sam’s Club in Atlanta.

(48) Philandra Jordan (MISY major) interviewed with our friends at GE for a Cyber Security position. She did well and has been invited to interview again.

(49) Aicha Camara (Management/HR major) interviewed with our friends at Patient First for a position and she was invited to interview again.

(50) Over one hundred students participated in State Corporation Commission Day to include hosting the HR team in four classrooms.

(51) Over fifty students participated in Wells Fargo Day to include interviewing for opportunities.

(52) Eight students interviewed for a paid internship in marketing with Toi Records.

(53) Karimah Jackson (Management major) has earned a Sales Associate position with our friends at FirstStreet Corporation located just up 95 from us. Karimah will be working for our friend Paul Woodward (General Manager).

(54) Alexandra Charles (MISY major) has earned a promotion and is an Information Systems Specialist at First Home Care Corporation in D.C.

(55) Vanessa Brown (Marketing minor), Mykala Daniel (Marketing major), Brianna Flores (Marketing major) and Tanika Mann (Accounting major) represented us at a Creative Advertising and Media Conference with some heavy hitters to include e.g. Rita McClenny (CEO of Virginia Tourism Office). Our friends in industry generously provided us free tickets.

(56) Chanel Brown (Marketing major), Kevin Carter (Accounting major), and Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major) participated in the Madison + Main Media Mixer with thirty businesses.

(57) Kara Rogers (Management major) participated in a Virginia’s Gateway Region focus group along with six other businesses and organizations. The topic regarded international exports.

(58) Zymir Batts (Accounting major), Taylor Choyce (Management major), Eddie Oliver (Management major), Adonis Roberson (Management major), and Tim Sloan (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Northwestern Mutual, General Electric (GE), Logistics Management Resources, Advantage Environmental Consultants, City of Petersburg, Winter HR Consulting, and Petersburg Revolution.

(59) Over ninety students participated in Eli Lilly Corporation Day to include interviewing for internships and/or full-time employment.

(60) Ten students participated in a Maggiano’s Little Italy luncheon and workshop to include free lunch.

(61) Samuel Frankfort (Management major) has earned a paid internship with our new friends at Monotelo. Sam will be responsible for business development related to financial advising. Sam previously interned with our friends at State Farm.

(62) Dei’Jon Collier (Marketing major), Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), Sam Kelly (Management major), Tim Sloan (Management major), Shannon Smith (Communications major), and Tamiko Taylor (Management major) participated in a GRCC networking event with fifty businesses.

(63) Tieona Booker (Management major), Chanel Brown (Marketing major), Samuel Frankfort (Management major), Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), Akira Grigsby (Management major), Tanika Mann (Accounting major), and Antavia Stevens (Management major) participated in the VSU Center for Entrepreneurship workshop with Rene’ Haines (President of Focal Path Coaching) and seven other businesses to include Metamorphosis, NY Life, Napier Realty, Ten Ten, etc.

(64) Mabertine Pierre (Management major) has earned a $200 scholarship from Alpha Kappa Alpha.

(65) Gloria Parham (Management/HR major and Dec grad) has been admitted to the Master of Theology program at Virginia Union University and will begin next month.

(66) Our students’ performance in networking facilitated a donation from Puritan Cleaners and Joseph A. Bank of a brand new business suit and credit of $150 at Puritan. Additionally, Puritan Cleaners and Joseph A. Bank will begin regularly mailing us business clothing for the purpose of our student-run clothing store.

(67) Stacey Elder (Management major) has earned a paid internship for the summer with our friends at Geico in Fredericksburg.

(68) Stefan Banks (Management major and 13 grad) has earned a position as an Ad Operations Manager at Teads.tv in New York City.

(69) Mykala Daniel (Marketing major) and LaMarcus Wise (Marketing major) interviewed at Richmond International Raceway for a paid marketing internship with our friends from NASCAR and ISC.

(70) Jenelle Bazil (Management major) has earned a paid summer internship at Goldman Sachs. Jenelle interviewed for the position in Salt Lake City and won the position.

(71) Kevin Carter (Accounting major) has earned a paid summer internship at Dominion. This will be the fourth year for Kevin interning at Dominion.

(72) Tim Sloan (Management major) was awarded a $4,000 scholarship for community activism by the United Campus Ministries.

(73) Darius Vaughan (Accounting major) earned a paid internship as a Bookkeeper for the City of Chesapeake for the summer.

(74) Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major) earned a paid internship for next summer at KPMG. Additionally, Jhadee has been accepted in to the prestigious KPMG Leadership Institute for this summer to be held in Hollywood, California.

(75) Korie Collins (Accounting major) was the Top Performer in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Nationwide Insurance, Markel, Small Business Financing Authority, SunTrust, City of Richmond, and Wells Coleman.

(76) Kevin Carter (Accounting major) was awarded a scholarship for his academic performance by the Hanover Alumni Chapter of Virginia State University.

(77) Chris Dow (MISY major) and Lawrence Fitch (MISY major) won a Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competition by beating a team from the University of Virginia. Chris and Lawrence presented on the topic, ransomware. UP NEXT, the gentlemen will compete against teams from other states.

(78) Daniel Wilkins (Management major) earned a paid internship at Quality Moving Services where he will be responsible for HR, sales, logistics, etc.

(79) Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major) won the Outstanding Junior of the Year award last night at the VSU Honors Convocation.

(80) Anjelique Johnson (MISY major), Chelsea Thompson (MISY major), and Dayton Smith (MISY major) participated in Project Shadow with senior IT executives at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

(81) Chanel Brown (Marketing major) and Tim Sloan (Management major) led a hands-on experiential learning workshop at N.B. Clement Junior High School in Prince George for twenty students.

(82) Chanel Brown (Marketing major), Trevon Byron (Management major), and Monet Graves (Marketing major) participated in the Sport and Entertainment Symposium.

(83) Wesley Wright (Accounting major and 15 grad) has earned a new job as an auditor at the Department of Defense’s Inspector General Office.

(84) Micah Bullard (Accounting major), Monet Graves (Marketing major), and Sam Kelly (Management major) participated in the Red Cross annual recognition dinner.

(85) Martin Short (Accounting major) participated in a Petersburg Chamber of Commerce networking event with twenty companies.

(86) Approximately one hundred students were recognized for their scholastic performance this academic year and were awarded plaques in the College of Business 2016 Awards Ceremony.

(87) A’Rion Hyman (Management major) has earned a position for after graduation in May at Quality Moving Services where she will be an Operations Manager responsible for scheduling employees, routing trucks, etc.

(88) Marquai Randolph (MISY major) participated in Project Shadow at the City of Richmond with senior IT staff.

(89) Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major) participated in Project Shadow at KPMG in the McLean office..

(90) Marcellus Barley (Management major), Zymir Batts (Accounting major), Taylor Choyce (Management major), Messiyah Kerr (Management major), Kaylee Lambert (Marketing minor), and Tim Sloan (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Binary Formations, Troutman Sanders, Aerotek, NBC, Ten Ten, and Appomattox Drug.

(91) Twenty-five students participated in workshops facilitated by Howard Deskin (Owner of Impression Marketing) and Micheal Sparks (Owner of Underground Kitchen) in the College’s Center for Entrepreneurship.

(92) Brittney Alford (Management major), Shayla Davis (Accounting major), Rolan Eason (Accounting major), Renee Rogers (Management major), and LaMarcus Wise (Marketing major) interviewed for a full-time position for after graduation with Junior Burr (Owner of Canterbury Enterprises).

(93) Over ninety students participated in KPMG Day to include a lunch and in-classroom exercises with the recruiting team.

(94) Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major) participated in a photo shoot with President Abdullah representing the College of Business.

(95) Cynthia Simmons (Accounting major) has earned a position as a high school math teacher in Pitt County, NC for after graduation in May.

(96) Elijah Miler (Marketing major) has earned a post-grad internship at Coca-Cola in Charlotte for after May. Elijah’s internship will regard marketing.

(97) Thea Harvell (Management/HR major) has earned a paid summer internship at Volkswagen North American Headquarters in Herndon where he will be a Training and Development Specialist Intern.

(98) Nahja Marinnie (Management/HR major) has earned a paid summer internship at Eli Lilly in New Jersey as a Sales Associate.

(99) Eddie Oliver (Management major) has earned a summer internship with our friend Everett Fox at New York Life in Richmond.

(100) Juanita Reed (MISY major) participated in an Encorepreneur networking breakfast with over one hundred businesses.

(101) Shaieek Turner (Management major) participated in a Young Non-Profit Network after-hours networking with over forty businesses.

(102) Messiyah Kerr (Management major), Thea Harvell (Marketing major), and Dashia Shanks (MISY major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Himmel-Hume Architecture, Michael Baker International, PRO, and RVA’s Hope.

(103) Over twenty students participated in Napier Realtors Day to include interfacing with Mary Rudisill (Business Development Manager).

(104) Trevon Byron (Management major) and Brandin Harvell (Marketing major) participated in an entrepreneurship workshop with Shane Crews (Owner of Shane Crews Photography).

(105) Tarik Floyd (Marketing minor) has earned a position as an Investment Analyst at Costar Group in NOVA for after graduation in May.

(106) Ryan West (Accounting major and 15 grad) has earned a contract job as an Accountant at Performance Food Group in Richmond.

(107) Valarie Simpson (Marketing major and 13 grad) has earned a position as Project Coordinator for Wells Fargo in Charlotte.

(108) Amanda Richards (Management major and 10 grad) has earned a new position and will be a Project Analyst at the Federal Reserve.

(109) Marvel Taylor (Management major) has earned two internship offers to include from the Virginia Department of Transportation and from Amsted Rail. Marvel has chosen the latter where she will work this summer.

(110) Vanessa Brown (Marketing minor) has been admitted to the very prestigious VCU Brandcenter for creative development subsequent graduation in May.

(111) Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major) has earned a paid summer internship in Finance at the Reagan National Airport.

(112) Earon Chandler (Management major) has earned a paid summer internship in the Office of City Manager in Suffolk.

(113) Philandra Jordan (MISY major) has earned a paid internship to commence next week with our friends at General Electric (GE). Philandra will have Cyber Security responsibilities.

(114) Chanel Brown (Marketing major), Vanessa Brown (Marketing minor), Bobby Harper (Management major), Messiyah Kerr (Management major), and Tim Sloan (Management major) participated in a speech competition at SunTrust hosted by the Urban Financial Services Coalition. Tim and Vanessa won first and second place respectively and will advance to compete in the Mid-Atlantic regional in Baltimore.

(115) Mykala Daniel (Marketing major), Sam Kelly (Management major), Marquai Randolph (MISY major), Diamond Sims (Marketing major), and Shaieek Turner (Management major) participated in a Madison + Main media mixer with over twenty businesses.

(116) Daushay Campbell (Accounting major), Korie Collins (Accounting major), Angelique Johnson (MISY major), Nahja Marinnie (Management/HR major), and Renee Rogers (Management major) participated in the Colonial Heights Chamber of Commerce annual dinner with over fifty businesses.

(117) Zymir Batts (Accounting major) was the Top Performer in Small Group Role Play with Industry as assessed by WestRock, Dominion, Enroll Virginia, Sam's Club, Nationwide Insurance, and Rivara Health.

(118) Cameron Bailey (Accounting major) and Chanel Brown (Marketing major) hosted the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce's Citizen Leadership Academy on campus for an all-day workshop attended by sixteen businesses.

(119) Over sixty students participated in VCU Brandcenter Day to include interfacing with Hawley Smyth (Director of Admissions) to discuss graduate school.

(120) Over fifty students participated in Fort Lee Federal Credit Union Day to include interfacing with Amanda Wilson (VP) to discuss internships and managing good credit.

(121) Marshawn Shelton (Management major) delivered remarks to a crowd of over one hundred persons at the ribbon cutting for the VSU Multipurpose Center.

(122) Chanel Brown (Marketing major) joined Allison Hudson (Recruiter for Northwestern Mutual) for dinner. Allison is Chanel's mentor as assigned by the College of Business.

(123) Fifty-three students in Professional Enhancement hosted two panel conversations regarding How to Win in 2016 participated in by the HUF Center, Richmond Flying Squirrels, U.S. Army, Napier Realtors, CW Richmond, YBConnects, Chic-Fil-A, VCU Brandcenter, MaestroTurner, EAM Solutions Group, and EdwardJones.

(124) Korie Collins (Accounting major) spent four days at Bear Creek State Park volunteering her time to repair handicap accessible facilities.

(125) Trevon Byron (Management major) and Andrew Clarke (Management major) joined our friends from NASCAR to participate in the PIT Crew Challenge.

(126) Angelique Johnson (MISY major) interviewed in Chicago with our friends at KPMG.

(127) Colisha Davis (Management major and 14 grad) delivered a beautiful little boy.

(128) Tiffany Jones (Management major and 15 grad) has earned a full-time position as an associate with our friend Michael Lawston at Foresters Financial in Glen Allen.

(129) Carl Capel (Accounting major and 15 grad) returned from Chicago where he was offered an Internal Audit Manager position at White Lodging Services. Carl has accepted the offer and will be relocating to Chicago in April to start.

(130) Michael McCatrey (Marketing major and 14 grad) has earned a Marketing and Sales Associate position at Vanguard Events and has relocated to Raleigh.

(131) Tiffani Jones (Management major) has earned a full-time position at the Fed Reserve in Richmond as a Bank Examiner subsequent graduation in May. Tiffani interned at the Fed this past summer.

(140) Fourteen students interviewed for an elite summer leadership conference hosted by KPMG in Hollywood, California.

(146) Marshawn Shelton (Management major) has earned a full-time position for after graduation in May at AT&T in Atlanta where he will be a Manager in Training.

(147) Shayla Davis (Accounting major) and Shareef Hood (Marketing major) have earned job offers for after graduation in May. Both will be doing sales/marketing for Red Ventures in Charlotte.

(148) Kevin Carter (Accounting major) was awarded this month a scholarship by Allmond & Company.

(149) Wesley Wright (Accounting major and 15 grad) has earned the Virginia State University Alumni Association National Young Trojan of the Year Award.

(150) Monet Graves (Marketing major) and Devin Lightner (Marketing minor) participated in TEDxRVA today at the Carpenter Center with 1,500 persons and benefited from networking with scores of companies/organizations to include e.g. Capital One, Venture, SBFA, MSIC, Code VA, Impression Marketing, Computer Resource Team, and TalentRVA just to name a few. Monet and Devin spent the afternoon with President Abdullah prior to his remarks to a sold out audience.

(156) Fifteen students participated in an workshop in the College’s Center for Entrepreneurship facilitated by Neil Amin (CEO of Shamin Hotels).

(158) Dei’Jon Collier (Marketing major), Sam Frankfort (Management major), Thea Harvell (Management/HR major), DeSean Jackson (Management major), Messiyah Kerr (Management major), and Tim Sloan (Management major) were the Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by Dominion, Nationwide Insurance, IRS, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Chesterfield County, ESI, Mazda, Resumes by Anne, Partnership for the Future, and Capital Area Health Agency.

(159) Vanessa Brown (Marketing minor) hosted Rasheed Walker (junior at Colonial Heights High School) on campus for the purpose of recruiting.

(160) Aaron Fuller (Management major) earned a summer internship at the Bureau of Labor Statistics in D.C.

(161) Renee Rogers (Management major) earned a full-time position for after graduation at Mariner Finance as a Branch Manager Trainee in Norfolk.

(162) Dayton Smith (MISY major) earned a two year internship/mentorship at the Federal Reserve in Cyber Security and IT Risk Assurance.

(163) Shaieek Turner (Management major) earned two summer internships to include as a Production Assistant on the movie-set of Underground and as a Film Assistant for VSU Commercial and Film Production.

(164) Daushay Campbell (Accounting major) earned an on-campus paid internship for next semester with Administration & Finance.

(165) Keyona Davis (Accounting major) earned a full-time accounting position for after graduation at the Defense Logistics Supply Center in Chesterfield.

(166) Devin Praylow (Management major and 12 grad) earned a new position as a Financial Analyst at the Federal Aviation Administration. Devin had previously been working as a Financial Analyst at CSSI.

(167) Stephany Casimir (Accounting major), Irvisha Pervall (Accounting major), and LaMarcus Wise (Marketing major) interviewed for a full-time position as a Credit Analyst for after graduation with Gail Letts (President of First Tennessee Bank).

(168) Chanel Brown (Marketing major), Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), Kailah Mattox (Accounting major), and Shaieek Turner (Management major) participated in a Reginald F. Lewis College of Business Day at Ettrick Elementary tutoring elementary students.

(169) Our students’ contributions in fall 2015 in collaborating with industry (ten companies) to raise money and to plant trees on the campus of Virginia State University materialized this week in a $20,000 grant authored by the College of Business to VSU from Home Depot. A big thanks in particular to Jasmine Davis (Accounting major), Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), and LaMarcus Wise (Marketing major).

(170) LaMarcus Wise (Marketing major) joined Greg Campbell (Owner of Smarter Interiors) for networking at the Diamond for a Flying Squirrels game.

(171) A’Rion Hyman (Management major) participated in a State Farm ribbon cutting in Colonial Heights and joined ten other businesses attending.

(172) Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major) and Taryn Majors (Management major) earned paid internships for the fall on campus in Accounting and Finance and in Administration.

(173) LaMarcus Wise (Marketing major) participated in a Hopewell/Prince George Chamber of Commerce networking breakfast with twenty companies hosted at Industrial Turnaround Corporation.

(174) Shakira Taylor (Management major and 14 grad) earned her M.B.A. from James Madison University and is a candidate for promotion at Allianz.

(175) DeLydia Lawrence (Accounting major and 15 grad) earned an Accounts Payable job at Smithfield Foods and got engaged to her sweetheart of the last 3 years and will be married on July 4th in Isle of Wight.

(176) David Ghartey (MISY major and December 15 grad) is at Deloitte and has been since graduation and most recently earned a position leading a project for Deloitte in Singapore and will be departing for there in July.

(177) Martin Short (Accounting major) participated in the Mitchell & Wiggins & Company accounting workshop and lunch in Petersburg with a dozen accountants and ten businesses.

(178) LaMarcus Wise (Marketing major) participated in a Virginia’s Gateway Region workshop and lunch at Chesterfield Economic Development with twenty businesses.

(179) Ahmad Alnigrish (Marketing major) participated in an all-day Financial Services Industry symposium in Innsbrook attended by scores of companies.

(181) Krystal Whidbee (MISY major) earned a paid summer internship at Oracle in San Francisco. Additionally, Krystal has earned a $10,000 scholarship from Oracle!! Krystal is our second person at Oracle; Diamond Sykes is in Boston.

(182) Rebekah Taylor (Accounting major) earned an invite to participate in the Goldman Sachs summer 2016 Undergraduate Camp to be held in New York City. Rebekah will be in NYC for three days and will participate in active learning workshops.
