VSU grad to compete in Miss USA Competition this Sunday

Deshauna Barber, a graduate of Virginia State University, will be competing for the title of Miss USA 2016 on FOX this Sunday, June 5 at 7 p.m.
Barber, 26, will be representing the District of Columbia in the Miss USA Pageant.
She graduated from the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business at Virginia State University in 2011 with a degree in Business Management. After graduation, she moved to Washington D.C. where she is currently working as an IT Analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce.
She is the daughter of a retired Army Master Sergeant and decided to join the Army herself. She is currently a Logistics Commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit at Fort Meade, Maryland.
According to the Miss USA website, she "loves to dance, hike and enjoy quality time with her family. Deshauna has a passion to serve the men and women in the U.S. military, specifically focusing her platform on PTSD treatment for soldiers returning from deployments and suicide prevention in the Armed Forces."
