Fall 2016 Student Accomplishments

The Reginald F. Lewis College of Business at Virginia State University celebrated the following fall 2016 student accomplishments.

(1) Paige Brown (Marketing major), Brittany Bunch (Marketing minor), and Jasmine Mason (Marketing major) won second place at the Fall 2016 Direct Marketing Association of Washington Collegiate MAXI Marketing Case Competition in Alexandria. The ladies competed against schools including James Madison, American, Mary Washington, Drexel, and Johns Hopkins.

(2) Martin Short (Accounting major) represented the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business for a college and career fair at Carver College and Career Academy to recruit students to the College of Business.

(3) Jasmine Baskett (Marketing major) participated in a State Farm Ribbon Cutting alongside Jessie Bell (Recruiter for State Farm) in Colonial Heights.

(4) Jasmine Green (Management major) and Terell Peters (Management major) volunteered at the Pathways Harvest Fest dinner to feed 300 underprivileged persons in Petersburg along with Fort Lee soldiers. Joining Jasmine and Terell at the dinner were Cameron Bailey (Accounting major), Jawuan House (Marketing major), L’Nique Mone Freeman (Management major), Jenae Moore (Management major), and Erica Pickens (MISY major).

(5) Jasmine Mason (Marketing major) earned a full-time position for after graduation in December at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, Ohio. Jasmine interned for Nationwide this past summer.

(6) Samuel Frankfort (Management major) earned an internship with the City of Petersburg responsible for event(s) management. Samuel will work under the supervision and tutelage of Marnelle Fanfan (Management major and 14 grad) who is the Director of Events for the City of Petersburg.

(7) Jenae Moore (Management major) and Brittany Stukes (Management/HR major) earned full-time jobs for after graduation with Island Hospitality managing hotel facilities. Their assignments have not yet been identified.

(8) Kapri Armstead (Management/HR major) participated in an After Hours networking event in Petersburg with Jim Pourteau. Jim trains executives pertinent to behavioral analysis so the introduction for Kapri was invaluable!

(9) Jasmine Aden (Management major) announced the opening of her bricks and mortar business, i.e. Salon O’vaa in Woodbridge.

(10) Ahmad Alnigrish (Marketing major) opened his own bricks and mortar business, i.e. Tech Genie RVA in Richmond in a popular shopping center. His business repairs phone repairs.

(11) Samuel Frankfort (Management major) earned a part-time position as a Teller at Wells Fargo. Samuel so impressed our friends at Wells Fargo that he was offered a full-time position as a Personal Banker but because it obligated him to 40 hours a week he was unable to accept.

(12) Aiyana Glover (Marketing major) earned a $7,000 scholarship from the NAACP. Aiyana also won a Commercial Real Estate for Women (CREW) scholarship for $1,500. Aiyana is now our third young lady to win the CREW scholarship in the last four years.

(13) Fidelis Zemkwe (MISY major) earned his U.S. Citizenship! Fidelis is from Cameroon and just returned from Basic Training at Fort Leavenworth with the U.S. Army.

(14) Stacey Elder (Management major and May 17 grad) and Marvel Taylor (Management major) earned full-time positions as Consultants at Deloitte in McLean for after graduation in May. Stacey and Marvel will be working in the same office with David Ghartey (MISY major and May 16 grad).

(15) Krystal Whidbee (MISY major) earned a summer internship at GEICO in Chevy Chase, Maryland where she will be a Systems Analyst.

(16) Monet Graves (Marketing major), Sam Kelly (Management major), and Mark Grant (Accounting major) participated in the HBCU Marketplace Conference in D.C. and their team finished in 5th place out of 18 teams. I should add that Sam Kelly earned a job offer for after graduation in May at General Dynamics in NOVA.

(17) Ngozi Akalagbere (MISY major) earned a summer internship as a Technology Specialist at Deloitte in McLean.

(18) Irvisha Pervall (Accounting major and May 16 grad) earned a full-time position as a Fraud Specialist at Capital One in Richmond.

(19) Latasha Harrison (Management major and 12 grad) earned a position as a Logistics Manager at Lidl US. Latasha had previously worked as a Logistics Manager at WalMart at the Sutherland Distribution Center where another of our Management grads (Equasha Smith) is a Logistics Manager.

(20) Dena Thompson (Accounting major and 12 grad) earned a new position as an Accounting Analyst at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City.

(21) Lawrence Fitch (MISY major and May 16 grad) earned a positon in Norfolk as an INO Analyst at ADT.

(22) Anthony White (Accounting major and 12 grad) his M.B.A. from LIU Post and was just published. Anthony wrote a children’s book entitled Ameenah the Queen.

(23) Cameron Wynn (Management major and 15 grad) earned a position as a Warehouse Supervisor at Supervalu. Cameron had previously been a supervisor at Amazon.

(24) Curtis Dixon (Management major and 13 grad) earned a position as a position as a Change Management Associate at PwC in D.C.

(25) Philandra Jordan (MISY major) earned a scholarship from Altria. This is the second year in a row our students won this scholarship!!

(26) Angelique Johnson (MISY major) and Chelsie Taylor (MISY major) participated in Project Shadow with Katina Worsham from GE.

(27) Cameron Bailey (Accouting major), Bashirah Bostic (Accounting major), Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), and Corey Vickers (Management major) participated in Project Shadow with Michelle Cosely and Marcelle Davis at the Federal Reserve.

(28) Tiffany Tucker (Management/HR major) participated in the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond’s Legislative Reception with scores of elected officials.

(29) Cameron Bailey (Accounting major) and Shahim Sesay (MISY major) participated in a Pathways Open House breakfast with regional businesses.

(30) Tiffany Tucker (Management/HR major) participated in the Young Non-Profit Network’s election of board officers event with scores of non-profits.

(31) Sam Kelly (Management major) earned a full-time position with Northwestern Mutual in D.C.

(32) Chanel Brown (Marketing major) earned a summer internship at Northwestern Mutual in Williamsburg with our friend Jeff Hammer.

(33) Korie Collins (Accounting major), Stacey Elder (Management major), Jhadee Gordon (Accounting major), Tanika Mann (Accounting major), Marvel Taylor (Management major), and Rebekah Taylor (Management major) participated in the Thurgood Marshall Leadership Institute Conference and interfaced with dozens of employers.

(34) Tanika Mann (Accounting major) and Marvel Taylor (Management major) represented the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business in Dallas at a Bega Gamma Sigma conference.

(35) Justin Camp (Management major) participated in the X-Culture Competition and visited Plastic Revolutions in North Carolina and presented on his findings.

(36) Carl Capel (Accounting major and 15 grad) earned a position in New York as a Tax Analyst at Bertelsmann SE & Co. Carl had been in Chicago working in audit for White Lodging Services.

(37) Jean Cain (Management major) earned a position as a Resident Advisor (RA) on campus for next year. Jean is a busy lady; she also works at Strosnider Chevrolet in Hopewell after meeting ownership at an event we hosted here in Singleton this semester.

(38) Tiffany Tucker (Management/HR major) participated in the retirement celebration for Brenda Mitchell (CEO of Crater Hospice) attended by over 100 persons at the Petersburg Country Club.

(39) Tionna Chambers (MISY major and 16 grad) earned a position as a IT Applications/Service Desk Team Member at Veritiv in Pennsylvania.

(40) Courtney Bell (Management major), Kazohn Mason (Management major), and Jenae Moore (Management major) earned recognition as Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by CarMax, City of Richmond Department of Recreation and Parks, Hanover Insurance, Urban Views Weekly, and MoneyGuidePro.

(41) Guy Deweever (Marketing major), L’Nique Freeman (Management major), Jawuan House (Marketing major), Jenae Moore (Management major), Erika Pickens (Management major), and Chelsea Thompson (MISY major) earned recognition as Top Performers in Small Group Role-Play with Industry as assessed by the Office of Congressman Randy Forbes, Workforce Engagement Solutions, JSRCC, DBi Services, Southside Health Education Foundation, and ShineHard Foundation.

(42) Thirty-three students graduated from the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business at the December 10th Virginia State University Winter Commencement.
